Portraits of People: Procedures and Fees
The first meeting will be to discuss the client’s expectations. Then, artist and client will decide on the pose, clothing and background. Once an agreement has been reached, several pictures will be taken and the artist will choose two or three pictures best suited for the portrait and e-mail or mail the prints to the client for approval. Upon approval, a 10% deposit will be required to start the portrait. The balance is due upon completion of the portrait and satisfaction of the client.
Fees start at $1,500 for a 16" x 20" Head & Shoulders in Pastel and $2,000 in Oil. They are based on a single subject. Second subject is 75% of original price and 50% for subsequent ones.
There is an additional fee for a complex background, elaborate clothing, or inclusion of pets. There is no extra fee for photography (within Northern Virginia). Framing and Shipping are not included in the price of the painting.
